Rami and Veronica’s love story is one for the books. They first met when they were teenagers, but only through a brief encounter when their parents had a meeting. Their families knew each other as their parents had worked together as consultants. It was not until 10 years later that they would meet again.

They both left Cebu to study at Ateneo de Manila University, but did not coincide in time. Rami studied business, Veronica studied the mind. When he left is when she arrived.

In 2017, they both returned home to Cebu to be of service to their respective families. This was when they would meet each other again, wholly different people from when they first met.

Their first date was at a coffee shop in Mandaue. They found commonality in their respective love for the humanities. At times, their exchanges would more closely resemble declamation than the exchange of would be lovers. They’d spend time together coaching high school students in debate. They enjoyed each other’s company and conversations.

Throughout the years, they supported each other. While in Cebu, Rami started a law practice, and Veronica started a social enterprise. They did this while helping manage their family enterprises. They enjoyed going out with friends, getting people together and building communities.

Most of their time would be spent having conversations about the big things, why we were here, what the world needed, and how they might exist in the world. These were echoes of conversations they would eventually have with each other. Why they loved each other, what their love would need to flourish, and how they would build a life together.

It was not always easy; there were ups and downs. It was through their steadfast commitment to each other that they weathered these challenges and came to grips with the state of the world, their place in it, and their desire to do more. Through it all they’ve chosen to love each other, each other’s families, and the love that they might share and build. Through it all, they’ve decided to be each other’s confidant, supporter, cheerleader, and fan.

Currently both based in Metro Manila, Rami spends his time working with the United Nations focusing on trade related technical assistance, and Veronica is a working student and pursuing further studies while managing her business and consulting work. They push each other to be better and this topic pervades their conversations.

More than their work, they bring with them the love for community wherever they go. They spend weekends playing badminton, going to the gym, or enjoying the company of friends. Most importantly, they enjoy bringing laughter to the people around them, and to each other.
